The Google Search Before The Job Search

It would be worthwhile to do a Google search of your name before you apply for your next job. In case you blog in your real name, it makes sense to read through your archives & comments and look for content, which might be considered inappropriate, abusive or defamatory.

Update: Srivatsan points to a Business Week article that deals with the same topic.

    Given how impulsively I write without much forethought, chances are high that I might have to shut down my blog prior to applying for a job!

  3. Hm sounds pretty unfair and scary.

    Unfair because, it could have been anyone with her name.. how did they verify the person was the same? [ok may be I dint read the article fully ;)]

    Scary because, of obvious reasons.

  4. @Greensatya,
    As long as you don't cross the line, you should be fine.

    @Krithika,
    People can still trace you by using Google Cache :-)

    @Saranya,
