No more HURDles for HP?
Although there was speculation that HP might select an insider as their next CEO, they have decided to go for low-profile outsider. Mark Hurd, CEO of NCR will take over as the new CEO of HP. There is a similarity between Carly Fiorina and Mark Hurd. Carly came from Lucent (which was spun off from AT&T in the mid 90's) and Mark Hurd comes from NCR (which was also spun off from AT&T in the mid 90's).

Increasingly, most of the companies are looking outside to replace such posts. Maybe the shake-up and the fresh energy that the new guys bring in matters (especially for companies like HP).

Hi Kaps, That is an interesting analogy that you have regarding NCR. I did not know that NCR was acquired by AT&T and later spun-off.
Thanks for posting it. It is so cool.

Venky,
NCR was an integral part of AT&T till mid 90's. Since AT&T became like a virtual monopoly, they spun off companies like Lucent and NCR.
