Things I hate about SUN TV

Even though they might be the numero uno in the Tamil Cable TV industry they seem to be complacent on a lot of fronts. If they continue to remain like this, they will lose ground sooner or later.
  • Worst Kanna Worst – Kungumam magazine ads (Best Kanna Best) are more irritating that the pop-up ads in the Internet. To add to this, such Kungumam ads are featured once every 5 / 10 minutes.

  • India Tholaikaatchigalil Mudhal Muraiyaaga (fill up the blanks) - Dhooran Kandasami. We are sick and tired of this.

  • SUN News – I can’t stand this 30 minutes of utter crap (I’m not talking about the content here). The way they present the news is quite disgusting. Except a couple of newsreaders the rest of them need basic lessons in Tamil & dialogue delivery. The only rule which they follow in the news is that each sentence should carry one of the following words – Paraparappu, Makkal Beedhi, Pathatram, Bhayangaram. Don’t scare viewers by using such words. Comedian Vivek has already made fun of the above three points.

  • Separate feed for different geographies - SUN TV has separate feeds to Europe and US to suit the local timings. However they don’t have separate feeds to the Gulf and South East Asia. I know people who stay up till 12 midnight to view some of the mega serials (Metti Oli). Hindi channels like Zee and Sony have separate feeds for South East Asia as well. There has been some talk of Star Vijay entering the Singapore market and I wish that they do this at the earliest. This might be a reason for SUN TV to wake up.

  • Program Life Cycle - Please understand that programs have an ageing process and unless you discontinue old programs and start new ones you can’t win the race. The Sunday morning line-up badly needs a make over. Apart from this, programs like Ungal Choice and Comedy Time have started stinking.

    i totally agree with you . Archana who hosts Comedy Time is another minus...Such a snooty B***$%. The faces she makes, is as tho she was destined for The Breakfast show and landed in Comedy time instead

    SUN TV SUCKS BIG TIME..i got no options but to watch it..

  • SUN TV! Shesssssssssssh, it's damn sad. It's a permanent feature in my house. My parents are its loyal viewers. To say I'm sick and tired would be an understatement! Disgusting is not the word. I am yet to see any programming initiative from their side which is subtle (Did I just say subtle....HAHAHAA!) and could appeal to my sensibilites...Thanks for adding me :)

  • Dhooran Kandasami - Is that the name of the guy who makes those announcements? Worst intonation ever; makes my hair stand on end everytime he goes Mudhal Muraiyaaga. Same with Nirmala Periyasamy, that demented newsreader.

  • They need to change over the makeup completely.. including some crew members like 'pepsi' Uma, kangai amaran (abdul hameed used to be good earlier), 'thirai vimarsanam' Rathna.... and the presentation has to change completely. (pl. refer to the TOP10 presentn on Sunday mornings).

    I used to spend lot of time on SUN TV earlier.. Now, I hv changed hte trend. Thank god, now I hv adequate time to spend on something else useful.

  • Pepsi Ungal Choice, Comedy Time, Vanakkam Thamizhagam, Top 10 Movies have become stale / rotten programmes.

    Dhooran Kandasami is the same guy who makes those promos for the movies and special programs during festive occasions. He has been with SUN TV since inception. Everybody knows his voice but very few know his name. Nirmala Periyasamy was thrown out of SUN TV after she requested a MP seat during the earlier elections

    If the entrepreneurial bug bites me, starting a Tamil TV channel will be top on the agenda.

    I totally agree with "Anonymous". Archana indeed seems to have a big ATTITUDE. She makes all these "faces" which seems to suggest she is doing us all a favor by appearing in front of the TV camera. Totally snobbish "B...." However, I still end up watching the show. I am always curious to know what new faces she will make at every new show. (It also shows you how frustrated I am with the rest of Sun TV;s sob-story lineup)

  • Yes..you are right..but internet is the mother of all media..it has offered another wonder (in the making..I guess)..it is shyam tv, first online tv from chennai..visit their home page shyamtv.com and get id. Initial programmes are only songs and cinema comedy..but future looks better
