Financial Express article on Indian Blogosphere

Financial Express Article on Indian Blogosphere

Today’s Financial Express says that more than 100,000 blogs are focused on India. Not sure how they measure these. FE says that niche blogs on Technology and Movies have enormous business potential as they can be a medium for advertisers. There are quite a few niche blogs in the area of Cooking and Literature and these could also have some business potential. FE also says that celebrities like actor Madhavan, singer Chinmayi and tech entrepreneur Rajesh Jain have their own blogs. I didn’t know that Madhavan had a blog. A quick search on the net did not reveal any results. If any of you know the URL please pass it on to me.

Old Lady of Boribunder postpones Chennai launch

ToI has postponed its Chennai launch by a year. This should come as a relief to The Hindu as they seem to be surprised by the inroads Deccan Chronicle is making in the Chennai market. Looks like ToI is focusing all its energies on defending their home ground (Mumbai) against the onslaught of DNA (from the Zee , Dainik Bhaskar Group). You might wish to read Rashmi Bansal’s take on the DNA launch campaign in Mumbai.

What goes on inside a Men’s Loo?

I enjoyed reading Sriram’s observations inside a Men’s loo. Wonder how much time he spent in the loo to write this one.

  • you too kaps?? i've been searching for that blog of Maddy (being one of my fav actors). I did find his offical site, and a diary section. It just has a hi dated early 2004!!!

Now, i'm wondering, where from the Fin Exp knew that Maddy had a 'running' blog...:-)

  • Thankfully there is a lot i could relate to in your present posts...i read that article in FE today morning..its pretty interesting! i agree blogs could be valves of business prospects as well. Nice one.

On the TOI, HIndu and DNA thing, being in Mumbai right now the DNA hoardings are all over the city. I do not know whether Hindu might get pushed by TOI but as far as I know, having stayed in the place, Chennaites are pretty academic and serious in nature. And come what may, Hindu rules there. By ways, i have gone through Deccan chronicle as well, can't see what so good about it?

  • TOI in India. I think that old lady is no match for the Mount Road Mahavishnu, Never has been even in her prime

  • I read Chinmayee's blogs. Looks like she can write decently.

    No idea about Maddy.

ABout TOI vs Hindu, it is difficult to fight Hindu in the Homeground but if the price is cheap, maybe TOI can eat a piece of Hindu's readers.

    Personally, I like HINDU.

  • Men's loo...

I remember an old adage: "More than 3 shakes and you're playing with it!"

  • There seems to be paper wars everywhere . TOI Vs HT in Delhi , TOI Vs DNA Vs HT in Mumbai , The Hindu Vs Deccan Chronicle in Chennai ....

The sad thing is most fights are fought on price and sleaze rather than quality ..

  • Kaps, This posting gives me an idea. You should compile a list of all "famous/popular" personalities who blog.

  • hindu has maintained their preference for page 1, increased their coverage of page3 , deccan chronicle is entirely page 3 and looks bad the presentation, hindu still maintains lead. hopefully when toi comes hindu wont move page 3 to page 1 like toi
