Rajini to take home Rs. 40 crore from Sivaji

If the ToI is to be believed Rajini will get as much as Rs. 40 crore from his next venture. Few days ago ET reported that Rajini had already obtained an advance of Rs. 15 crore. AVM must be hoping that this movie will boost their sagging fortunes.

  • If all these numbers are true, the film should collect 75-100 crores from the market.. such a huge sum...

If the reports are true, hopefully distributors would have placed their bets on Rajini with huge advances. AVM wouldn't have shelled out so much, since they are not cash rich today. I am still wondering about the finance charges, these distributors will be bearing assuming it is out of OPM. (If they are recycling the Chandramukhi 'harvest', then they mayn't feel the pinch heavily)

  • Ram,
It is definitely a huge sum. I hope AVM comes back to form after this movie. They can't go wrong after getting Rajini and Shankar. Dunno whether they have gone for some bank funds like they did for Anniyan.

  • I just wish the movie wud live up to its expectations... and I hope Shankar comes with a good storyline for Rajini with not much jingbangs that he is used to.

With the success of Chandramukhi and Anniyan, as Ram mentioned, it should not be difficult for it to gross something close to a 100 crores.

Am awaiting with bated breath just like any other Rajini fan !! He sure deserves a 40 crore salary !

  • Somu,
There was an interview with AVM Saravanan in the local FM channel and he told that this will be a usual big budget Shankar movie suited for Rajini's image.

Reminds me of the pathetic hoax played by Rajini fans that CM was 30th in the list of NY Times' all time highest grossing movies.
It was a super-duper hit alright, but 100 crores????
