After ARR, it’s Ilayaraja’s turn to perform live

Maestro Ilayaraja will be performing at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai on 16th October and this show will be telecast live on Jaya TV. Unfortunate ones like me will have to wait till the VCD is released.

What could be a greater joy than enjoying the festival with a music provided by none other than the maestro himself. Maestro Ilayaraja will render a live concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on 16th October for Jaya TV.

Dubbed as 'Maestro-Live In Concert', the musical show will showcase the coming together of seasoned playback singers singing the tunes of Ilayaraja.

'With I taking a plunge into spiritualism, my interests towards performing live-in-concerts have decreased considerably. When my Symphony on Thiruvasakam was released recently, music-lovers gathered in large numbers and there was a huge queue waiting outside the venue to have a glimpse of the event. This prompted me to hold a concert for my ardent fans. This has resulted in me joining hands with Jaya TV for this musical show'.

Who's who of Kollywood would gather on the occasion to shower their appreciation on the music composer, he added.

  • Great news. Raja used to do a lot of live concerts (With Gangai Amaran's troupe) in the 80's and early 90's. Would be keen to know who are the singers (Since the best of his songs have been sung by SPB,Yesudas,Janaki,Chitra).

  • Look out especially for these two pieces, which IR performed in his Live In Italy concert in 2004
    a) 3-in-1: a stunning composition by the Maestro in which he has used only 3 notes or swaras
    b) Mood Kaapi: A brilliant instrumental rendition of the Malayalam song "Thumbi Vaa" from the film Olangal, based on Kaapi raaga as the title suggests.

I treat raja sir as my god father , i can do any thing for him..beleive me when internet world was not in popular condition i used to collect his movies from t.v itself in that fashion nearly i collected every movie.......i love u raja sir.........defenately in my life i wanna see you......by bujji(,vizagandhra pradesh)
