Chennai wears a new look
Dwindling sales has forced international apparel and retail chain Marks and Spencer to look beyond its home turf (UK). M&S is the latest brand to enter the Chennai retail space. This comes close on the heels of Esprit’s entry into the Indian market. Tommy Hilfiger and Armani also have plans to enter the Indian market in the near future.
Aggressive growth plans of Chennai movie halls & multiplexes
Sathyam Cinemas & Abhirami Mega Mall have ambitious plans to meet the growing demand. In addition to this, PVR is also opening its multiplex in the AMPA Shopping Mall that is coming up in Nelson Manickam Road.

Agree with Ram... Growth in endeavours of the private companies shd be matched by the government's enthu to build the city... otherwise chennai will become like yet another suburb of mumbai.:)

I think M & S are already in Bangalore in either the Central or the Forum malls. Also, they are definitely in Mumbai, IMHO. :)
PS: Tommy Hilfiger already has a business tie up with an Arvind Group company.

Welcome to M&S. The malls and multiplexes are welcome too. Hopefully they will make movie watching in Chennai a more pleasant experience (albeit at a price). Anything to compete with the stores in T.Nagar (and take away some of the crowd) is welcome.
M&S in Bangalore is at Garuda Mall.

Dont get excited about M&S, its just an average brand and is overpriced in India. It already has stores in Delhi and Bangalore. The collection sucks. Good on PVR though - about time Chennai got one. Hilfiger's already in India though, its got stores in a many cities.
