Be Indian, Call Indian (Call Centre) & Buy Indian (Food)

DNA reports that Indian restaurants in UK are using Indian BPO's to handle their call centre operations. The truth here is that most of these ‘Balti houses’ are run by Bangladeshis.

This one is a first for call centres - residents of London are placing orders for Indian food with local Indian restaurants via call centres in India.

If you are working late in London, chances are that when you call up the Indian takeaway down the road to place your order, the call will go to a call centre in India.

  • LOL, I just wrote a post on why desi bloggers don't use desi blogsite like rediffblogs and how even popular blogs like ouchmytoe don't get any search footage or popularity by technrati.. Read here

  • @Zonk,
    How about Africa?

    @Anthony,
    Be it rediffblogs or indiatimes blog or rediffmail or indiatime mail, people don't seem to prefer them as they are seen as being inferior to Yahoo, Hotmail and Google.

  • Definitely, I only meant that rediffblogs is suppose to be a desi blog, not that rediff bloggers are more desi. Somehow rediffblogs started very well, but with no revenue stream, they have almost given up.. they haven't upgraded much either.. And because of the short comings like search engines not indexing them, even good desi rediff bloggers like ouchmytoe, DJ and AmitL don't get much footage...

  • This is poppycock. About 5 Indian restaurants in the whole of the UK utilise Indian call centres. Although...I'm sure the call centre operatives speak better English than all the Sylhetis manning the counters here!

  • I am surprised to note the use of call centres for restrnt businesses... Is the volume such a high one, requesting a call centre's help???? :-? :-?

  • i have the same doubt as Ram.C, does a restaurant business attract so many calls? Under such cases would'nt they be better off opening more local branches :-?
