Big Blue betting Big on India
There has been lot of M&A activity in the IT sector recently. Most of the action has been restricted to the mid-rung IT companies. Barings Private Equity Partners (BPEP) expressed its desire to offload stake in Mphasis but that didn’t go through for a whole host of reasons. Oracle’s acquisition of iFlex came next.
If rumour mills are to be believed, IBM is eyeing a stake in Chennai based Polaris Software Lab. Polaris has not been in the best of shape in recent times. IBM has also bought some real estate with the intention of expanding its presence in Bangalore.

I guess they want a strong presence in the BFSI vertical and the recent Oracle - iflex deal should have put more pressure on them
