Srilankan PM cancels Chennai visit due to cancellation of meeting by Jaya. The forthcoming election will reveal whether it was worth ditching the appointment of a head of state.

The popular feeling that, if Jaya had meet the Srilankan PM, it would have had a adverse effect on her election fortunes next year.
