Revenue stream for blogs

I seriously don’t understand what is being mentioned in the article. It says that this blog is India’s first blog to be funded by investors. The quality of the blog is far from satisfactory. Why is MSM covering such blogs when there are much more better blogs around?

  • I saw this news too and the pompousness surrounding it was enough to make me move to the next news item. But by featuring it here, you have given them more publicity than warranted :-)

  • I read this too and was as surprised as you are.

    Nothing home to write about that blog.

  • TCP is the foremost blog representing the thoughts, aspirations, feeling and experiences of Indian youth. Most of the content is written by those in the 16-25 age group, with professional editors mentoring them to ensure professional quality material.

    While the emphasis in the above text is mine, I am starting to wonder where the concept of blogs ends and MSM begins? I mean, when a similar case (i.e., blurring of lines) happens with any other subject, that would be taken as a positive, but when blogs seem to be the perfect antithesis to MSM, this seems to be a "I too" (grammatical error totally intentional) attempt by whoever is behind this attempt. And this thought comes to mind solely because of the presence of "professional editors" in this exercise. If the focus is to mentor future journos, then a unmonitored blog would be a perfect way to set them on that path! But this attempt seems to be something else...

  • When someone 'invests' ina blog it nolonger remains one - it becomes just another news/ topical site. These guys are taking away the individuality and sponteniety of blogging. The best we can do is to avoid such blogs and continue making our own paths!! Any committed blogger can easily tell the difference between a made-up site like this and a real blog...

  • I don't see a difference between this publicity and the full page IIPM ad :P. Spend some money and we can get an article written about us in the frontpage of a newspaper.

    @30in2005,
    There are so many absurd statements in this article and the investment is one such thing.

    @Ranganathan,
    There are some similarities between IIPM and this

    @lazygeek,
