A Reader's Editor for The Hindu

The Hindu has indicated that it will be appointing an independent person to a newly created position called the Reader's Editor. This has been hailed as a novelty in the Indian context. I hope this issue is top on the agenda of the Reader's Editor.

  • interesting, very interesting...We should probably write to this reader's editor, just to see what happens.

  • Readers are the consumers of a newspaper. And they obviously have the last word. Reader's editor is a good concept. Most of the newspapers now ignore government's lofty pronouncements on any issue, and instead look at the issues from the people's (readers') perspective.

  • I personally don't think this is going to bring about a new change in how The Hindu works.... I've been regularly writing them letters, obviously, criticizing them, but none has been acknowledged even in an electronic format.

If you see, most of the articles that appear in the print edition are from NY Times, The Guardian, AP, AFP, PTI, Reuters and other sources... If you are a hardcore net browser like me, you will be left in the lurch when you open a day's newspaper, bcause half the news you would have already read in the Net
