Sambhar Mafia - Cooked To Kill!

Clueless

Why should this blog be blocked by Websense software under the grounds of offensive content because of this reason? I tried to break my head to find out whether it is because of some offensive word in the URL, but couldn't come up with any answer.

  • LOL! I am sure Robbie would like to know too (incidentally he gave me and Ganesh with his family a birthday treat - dinner the Saturday before last).

  • Google China blocks Essex county's webpage! Apparently because the url contains the word "sex"!

    P.S.

    I hope my comment isn't considered spam. ;)

  • @Thennavan,
    I remember telling him about this long back.

    @Michael,
    I don't think he has classified it this way. The websense filtering program has classified his blog like this.

    @Krithika,
    I'm sure the software would have provisions to spot genuine words which have such keywords

    @Vinesh,
    it's really dumb....there is a way we can inform them saying that the content is not objectionable....they might look into it.

    @30in2005,
    nobody has been able to spot the reason.....this puzzles me to the core.

    Although if you're behind Websense, it'd be blocked as "Tasteless" :D

    Websense is technically not a 'bot'. It's a company which employs people to browse sites and categorize them. Keyword filtering is an optional feature, but primarily, for a company using Websense monitoring, what happens is that the site you're visiting is checked against the Websense category DB, and if your company has chosen to block that category, then that site's offlimits to you :)

    There are anomalies - Websense doesn't have localized employees for country-specific sites, so IIM-Kozhikode is classified as a Cultural Institution, etc., but this has been found 'superior' by companies wanting to filter/monitor Web usage, rather than using a simple "keyword matching" technique alone.

    Having said all that, it sucks :)

    All this typed from behind a Websense system ;)

  • @Ambimama,
    Googlehack was a result some individuals....but this seems to some kind of system problem

    @IOIIO,
    This is about some other blog and not Mafia

    @Shrik,
    I confirm that the blog was classified under Sexuality category and not tasteless.
