Singapore to host F1 in 2008?

Don’t brush this off as an April Fool Prank. S’pore had earlier given up the opportunity of hosting F1 and ended up regretting that decision. I hope they will not let go of it this time.

  • good for them...but do they realize it's a total waste of everything. The sport is no more that an expensive showcase if you dont have your own drivers...

    Im thinking of a street race/

  • Heard that they are planning for it near the IR's (Marina Bay).

  • @GP,
    it can be a money spinner too....and S'pore would not get involved if there is no money to be made.

    @Chennai Chatter,
    are you kidding? go karting will hardly bring in the moolah.
    F1 is all about money and S'pore can make it happen

    @Mr. Pissed,
    space is a constraint....they might go for a street race. the Hyd race was promised under Naidu's regime. i don't think the plan is still on.

    @Cogito,
    I think the Marina Bay location could be a speculation....let's wait for more confirmed news.

  • F1 is the 3rd most watched sporting event in the world, after Olympics and FIFA World Cup. Unlike them, F1 is held every year and has a HUGH following from Europeans and now Asians and even Americans. It is far more worth to stage an F1 race in Singapore then to host some World Bank big-wigs which is more trouble than it's worth. Trust me.. Singapore won't regret it.
