Thambi - Hit or Miss?

Is Thambi really a hit as it is being projected to be? I haven’t read any positive reviews so far. Further, Madhavan’s appeal is largely restricted to A centres and I doubt whether the movie would have made an impact in the B and C centres. Am I missing something?

  • I Believe, the media had appreciated the movie for the positive story content. I think the crew is claiming that as a victory. I doubt about the Box office collections.

  • Ram,
    You are right. it would have definitely not set the box office on fire. My question is with the definition of a hit. Is it just critical acclaim by reviewers or commercial success or both?

  • Aeey aaey is all that you get to hear in this movie. It has redefined the concept of a flop.

  • media like SUN tv(itz bcz the director is from ramadoss party) and vikatn are projecting this movie as a hit one. But absolutely its not a hit movie in A centre. i really doubt vikatan's credibility on judging the movies these days,

    sadly, these kind of activities from the media confuses the crowd and makes the movie as a hit one.

  • Balls to the person who wrote that. I happened to see TWO crap movies in three days now, and my friend told me they were 100 times better than Thambi. I'd never EVER check that out for myself.

  • @Vijay Krishna,
    LOL. thanks for the warning.

    @Jagan,
    i am surprised why a neutral News Today would also support it.

    @Govar,
    may i know the 2 crap movies? Is it Idhaya Thirudan?

  • Hi Kaps,

    To start with, I am a die-hard fan of Maddy pas 5+ years and still his fan, though his recent films were'nt attractive nor he took up good roles (considering his physical health). Talking about his Thambi, I must say thats one's maddy's worst movie after Aethirree. Aethirree did not perfom well at box office.. every movie of his, I goto watch at theatre, but for Thambi I was really thinking if I should be going (specially after checking out advertisements and commercials all over chennai) to the movie.

    I did go (after couple of weeks the movie was screened) with lots of expectation, would you believe, a die-hard fan of him leaving theatre before the movie ends ??? That's what I did, the story did'nt suit maddy well, maddy is depicted as Lover Boy and later Action Hero, so he must try doing stuffs thats worth watching and that his fans (specially girls) love to watch. Thambi was a big disappoint for me as I myself left the theatre well before 30 minutes at the end.

    So, I was really wondering as to why the medi, press, advertisements shows it to be "SUPER HIT??????". I have got more to talk on this issue, will blog if I have time (SRM Engineering Re-Opening Back Today!!) and I am posting this comment at 7:12 am (IST) as I am preparing to leave to college.
