This seems to be a problem with pilots the world over. BA suspended a whole bunch of pilots and stewards recently for the same reason. Unfortunately passengers who need to travel between cities at lightening speed at are at the mercy of the crew with no way of checking the pilots breath! One can only hope that airlines take on the responsibility of checking every pilot before every flight. Random checking is too light a system - and one can only hope that it does not take fatalities to make this a serious issue.
Holy shit! I've traveled a lot and am pretty convinced with Deccan but for the delays, but stuff like these and the other incident of emergency landing a couple of days back are stark reminders of the rapid growth and the problems that come along. Hope checks and balances are in place, atleast in businesses like airlines.
@30in2005, Passengers definitely get affected and concerned by such developments. I also feel that there should be a foolproof system which has a 100% scrutiny.
@Adengappa & KK, :-)
@Saranya, People flying Air Deccan will think twice.
@Indian Blogger, Guess they are more interested in serving beer to the pilots!
@Ravi, Even if the stewardess is drunk, the passenger's life is not as risk, but if the pilot is drunk it is even more risky.
