In or Out?

Vaiko announced three days ago that MDMK is still part of UPA. However, Sun TV and Tamizh Murasu are painting the town red that MDMK has been kicked out of the UPA because Vaiko has not been invited for some Congress function in Delhi. No other MSM has carried this news. Since Congress party is the Convenor of UPA, shouldn’t the UPA Chairperson (Sonia in this case) make a statement in this regard? If what DMK is propagating is false, the Congress should clarify its stand on this issue to avoid the people from drawing inferences from the developments.

With Congress stepping up pressure for a share in the state ministry, it would be interesting to see how DMK reacts to this. MK has already gone for a mega ministry (largest ever in the history of TN) and he could use this as an excuse to deny power sharing in the state. EVKS Elangovan can now have a hearty laugh, as he was the first one from the Congress side to make a demand for a coalition government long back. The DMK got furious at that time and even asked Elangovan to apologize personally to MK.

We are now going to see some Ulle Veliye with Congress wanting to get in and DMK wanting to throw MDMK out of UPA.

  • do the two major dravidian parties have a successor,second in command each to take over the reins in the future ? MDMK Chief Vaiko and Vijayakanth can aspire for the coveted seat at Fort St George when the dravidian parties wilt without a charismatic personality at the fore.

  • I think Kalignar can easily handle this.

    It is also my hunch that the DMK has clear signals from the Congress that MDMK is now a persona non grata.

    As of now, i guess MDMK will be "Veliye" from UPA and Cong remains "Veliye" in the DPA

  • Technically, MK can induct 4 more ministers (35 is the max) and Congress will endup getting them..

    For their own sake, neither congress nor DMK will pull out either ministry. .. They have it going good.. why spoil the party..

    As regards to Vaiko, he will manage to cling on to UPA for some more time..but he has lost his clout in Delhi already..

  • @Venkitu Sir,
    Cong will not pull out as they need DMK's support at the centre.

    @Anand,
    DMK has Stalin, but nobody knows whether the rank and file of the party will be behind him. I don't ADMK has a succession plan since Amma is firmly in control.

    @RaajK,
    yeah, DMK has ruled out any coalition goverment.

    @Vignesh,
    looks like that.

    @Ram,
    is there a cap on the number of ministers? The question is whether Vaiko will be welcome in UPA?

    @Syam,
    LOL, thanks for dropping by.

    @Ashok,
    i take your point. vaiko can't continue in UPA for long.
