Sambhar Mafia - Cooked To Kill!

Goodbye Sun TV, Hello Vijay TV

Viewers in Singapore finally have some choice. You don't have to put up with Sun TV's non-stop mega-serial menace during primetime. After the recent change in Sun's programme schedule, even the 8.30 pm slot usually reserved for film-based programmes has been taken over by Meena's mega-serial. Vijay TV's entry into the Singapore market could not have come at a better time. A press release from StarHub states that Star Vijay will be available in Singapore from 18th Sep.

VIJAY will be accessible round-the-clock via channel 28, and will comprise of a variety of programme genres, including talent hunts, music shows, sitcoms, dramas, thrillers, reality shows and Hindi blockbusters.

When did they start showing Hindi blockbusters on Vijay?

  • Vijay TV is no better than other tamil channels. Except for a few programmes (like Madhan's Thirai parvai, Coffee with Anu, etc) rest is all the same crap!

  • Wow..finally some choice !Let me check Starhub's site for pricing..

  • Anon - IMHO - Sun TV sucks big time.!! Unable to bear the Serials I moved to Vijay a few months back and I am happy!

It might not have the reach.. as SUN TV has in TN, but I hope our peope wake up to the kazhutharuppu of the serials.

Here are some of my favorite programs in Vijay TV.

    1) EQ
    2) Thirai Parvai
    3) Coffee with Anu
    4) Kalakka povadhu yaaru
    5) Neeya Naana
    6) Lollu Sabha
    7) Sagalai ragaLai

    @Anon,
I'm happy that we have an alternative.

  • Vijay pains with too many dubbed movies [Hindi, English, Chinese etc.]

But its a much superior channel compared to Sun, if you don't like serials etc. But it'd be much better if there wasn't the KPJ sponsored gemology and nonsense like that.

By Blogger Jagadish, at 10:38 PM

  • If you have Sun and Vijay, you can escape from both(yeah, weird sentence).

Be prepared to be tortured by "commercials" on Vijay every 15 minutes. These "commercials" are promotion for their programs, playing the same clips played over and over for your lifetime.

But for 3-4 good programs, it's really an annoying channel.
If you have just Vijay, you would soon be longing for... well, you know ;)

  • Vijay is def better than Sun TV. I haven't seen Hindi blockbusters but there are programs targeted at the cosmo crowd and hence a number of Hindi songs interspersed between Tam ones... Njoi!

  • they do play hindi serials of

    Yatra
    Musafir hoon yaaron
    Saibaba
    Hatim
    Sonpari

the hindi serial are dubbed into tamil.

  • is streambox.tv legal?though we are paying for it..

next to some vijay tv programmes..
streambox.tv guys are the pain in the ass..

even though its a pay site. they put adware and malware in the site.. so every time you start the tv. you get this annoying indian accent b**** announcing that "congratulations, you had won a ipod nano"... wtf. i m paying for this s***.

from past week, i started getting pop-in ads..it just drives me crazy.
vijay TV and other TV should authorize these guys and forcem not to do this stupid ad..(hoping streambox is legal).
else they should just put their shows in you tube..

atleast its better than sun.. can't stand their mega serial s***.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:09 AM

By Blogger Raghu, at 11:01 AM

  • Yeah, snazzy programs, but did someone actually watch Start TV too or the group programs?

All programs are either dubbed or blatant copies of the originals... bad versions too ...

By Blogger Bharat P, at 1:08 AM

  • In US we got vijay tv may be few months back. What is happening on Vijay TV. We got it month back, just for the programmes. But everything is repeat. When will we get programmes like in India. No response from Vijay TV site. Hope we get regular programmes soon. I think vijay is far better than sun tv. Hope it stays that way.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:42 PM

  • I am just wondering how dump are these people. Streambox is obviously pirated version of these channels without any license from the channels. People are giving their credit cards to theives. Good luck to all who did it already. There is no contact info. There is no whois info. When you buy a TVset from a van in back alley should know they are buying stolen merchandise. So technically anybody who paid these guys are also, can be sued by the channels.
