Sad State of Tamil Lyrics
It is quite fashionable to put lot of catchy English words (Shankar style) in Tamil songs. This has now gone to an extent where one has to search for the Tamil words in such English songs. Sample this song from the movie Rendu:

Subscriber cannot be reached at the moment
There will be a day when the TN govt. will have to give tax incentives to promote Tamil lyrics. Till such time, the promise of Tamil preservation will be just an eye-wash.

Hasn't it always been an eye-wash. I think, in the larger sense, languages will prevail or perish depending on how much use they provide. Some like Tulu and Sindhi are so very weak coz people disintegrated into different regions. Tamil will survive since people in TN are fervent about Tamil - but only so much as to communicate. I don't see too much future for puritanical tamil - the grammar, complexities, and the like.

aren't you being hyper-critical..
that was supposed to be a funny song.. and the words are meant to be english..thr r no substitutes for those words in tamil!
