Aaru Audio – Devi Sri Prasad fails to deliver

Devi Sri Prasad showed lot of promise in Mayavi and Sachein. Unfortunately the movies flopped and Devi Sri Prasad’s music went unnoticed. Aaru music is a big let down. Since Surya plays the role of a person living a slum, most of the songs are of the dappankuthu, gaana variety. The beats and tunes of some of these songs are way too familiar. Overall it looks like a formula album with few kuthu songs and some melody numbers.

Dhrogam starts with the humming which resembles the song Aval Varuvala (Movie: Nerukku Ner)

The pick of the album is Paakathey ena Paakathey by Tippu and Sumangali. After repeated listening I feel that the song has traces of Poi Solla from April Madhathil and Kanmoodi Thirakkumbothu from Sachein.

Nenjam Ennum Ooriniley (Srinivas & Kalpana) is a hummable number and might become popular after a while.

Irritations
Yuvan style English rap has been thrusted into one of the songs. To add to the confusion, comedian Vadivelu has also lent his voice to one of the other songs.

Devi Sri Prasad needs to work overtime to prove that he can deliver the goods. Otherwise, he would be better off focusing on Telugu films.

  • Courtesy my friends from the andhra desam, i have listened to couple of his telegu albums - and they are really up-to-the-mark...

    Just has to improve his consistency with his work !

  • when is this movie releasing?

  • Kaps,
    Sachein and Mayavi were'nt promising either. Sachein's theme was good(god knows whether its lifted or not), Vaadi Vaadi was hearable gana, the Harini BGM was good.

    Heard this almost a week back, was thinking about writing on this movie, but procastinated it. will update soon though.

  • That "English rap" in between a song, reminded me of 'Kannum Kannum thaan kalanthaachu...' of 'Thirupacchi'. If I'm not wrong DSP composed music for a song in that movie along with Dheena. Was it that song (KKTK..), which he composed? Looks like, if I consider this 'English rap' as the clue.

    BTW.. I don't have any hopes for this movie. Generally, Hari is not a hot favourite director according to me. Only his 'Saami' had some substance. His other movies like 'Tamizh' 'Kovil' 'Ayyah' etc., were not great movies. (another movie missing in the puzzle? what was that?)

    I hv my own reservations for this 'Aaru' movie which has been advertised to be having 4 metro-villains (similar to Tirupacchi).....

  • You are right kaps, the respons to this audio is really slow in shops and even downloads from mp3 sites!

    May be he should come up with better numbers in his future works.

  • When I was in my 12th, Devi Sri Prasad came for our school culturals (he was a participant from another school) and went back winning the best all roud performer award... Even at that time, his Song (written by his friend and composed by him which was later released as his first pop song) was such a craze !

    Today, he is seeming to be urghhh... He has made very few movies in Tamil... Yet the beat in "Uppu karuvaadu" (Mazhai) and "Kaathaadi pola" (Mayavi) sound very similar...

    Dearth of creativity ? I somehow don't even like his dappankuthu which is what he is famous for in Telugu... THe only song I have liked so far is his "Kadavul thantha" (mayavi). Don't think at this rate he is gonna survive for long in Tamil !

  • most of the new songs have become like that.

  • @Arvind,
    I also heard that his Telugu compositions are amazing......let's hope he delivers the goods

    @Visithra,
    Might be in December

    @Narayanan,
    I liked the melodies in Sachien and Mayavi. The SPB Charan song (Kadavul Thandha) in Mayavi was simply out of the world

    @Ram,
    DSP composed for 1/2 songs in Tirupachchi. I also feel that Aaru will not find a favour with the audience

    @Dreamcatcher / Tamil Napster,
    I'm not too surprised with the response

    @Somu,
    Devi Sri Prasad has lot of talent....he just needs to make use of the opportunities that he is getting

    @Viji,
    I don't think picturization can add value to dappankuthu songs

    @Ganesh,
    It is a sad development.
